Who WE ARE

Rwanda We Want Organization is a youth-led organization dedicated to empowering young people as drivers of sustainable development through leadership, peacebuilding, education, mental health well-being, and economic empowerment.

Founded in 2015, the organization works across Rwanda to equip youth with the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to transform their communities and build a resilient society.

Through over 20 innovative programs and 1 research implemented under 3 pillars core areas of focus (Youth Empowerment, Youth Education, and peace building), Rwanda We Want has reached more than 12,000 young people across Rwanda, addressing challenges such as trauma, social exclusion, unemployment, and limited access to inclusive education.

To empower the Rwandan youth through a comprehensive approach focused on leadership development, disability advocacy, youth health wellbeing, economic empowerment,
enabling them to drive sustainable development.

OUR VISION

A prosperous Rwanda led by a resilient youth capable of driving sustainable
development.

TARGET GROUPS

Young people in and out of school, youth with disabilities, and youth from marginalized communities, RWW also works with youth led organizations in their infancy stages for youth-led organization sustainability efforts.

OUR WE STORY

Rwanda We Want Organization began in 2015 as a student club formed by secondary school students who wanted to discuss leadership and the future of Rwanda.

After completing secondary school, the members expanded the initiative into a formal organization. In 2018, Rwanda We Want was officially registered as a non-government organization.

The name Rwanda We Want was inspired by the Africa We Want vision and reflects the aspirations of young people for a better future.

OUR IMPACT

Rwanda We Want programs have transformed the lives of thousands of young people and families across Rwanda by building leadership, restoring hope, strengthening livelihoods, and fostering peace and resilience. Through practical skills training, healing spaces, inclusive education, and youth-led initiatives, beneficiaries are not only improving their own lives but also becoming changemakers in their communities.

So far, Rwanda We Want Organization works in all five provinces of the country, designing and implementing projects by the youth for the youth. With over 12,000 beneficiaries in the past 11 years, we look to the future with passion and enthusiasm.
